☆NO PARTIES/EVENTS ~ We are not a "party house"! We do not tolerate any loud noise, large groups or additional visitors. All visitors' names and phone numbers must be submitted in advance. NOTE: Violation of this rule can result in immediate eviction and/or additional charges. All entrances are under video surveillance.
WARNING: In addition to immediate eviction, you will be charged $90 per non-registered guests who were on the property.

NOTE: We live nearby and we verify compliance of all our house rules, especially quiet hours after 10pm (22:00h).

☆NO LOUD NOISE: No loud noise must be heard by neighbors after 10pm (22:00h). Keeping all windows & doors closed helps keep sound in. No professional sound equipment.
☆IMPORTANT NOTE: If a noise complaint is lodged from neighbours, police and/or by-law officers this can result in immediate eviction without refund, warning and/or additional charges may apply.

☆NO PETS ~ No pets allowed. No domestic/feral/wild animals allowed. NOTE: Violation of this rule can result in immediate eviction and/or additional charges. All entrances are under video surveillance.

* Alcohol - Please enjoy in moderation. No drunken behavior, which may be too loud or lead to additional cleaning or repair charges.
Not allowed - No glitter, confetti, etc. or additional cleaning costs may apply.

* CHECK-IN & OUT ~ Check-in is after 4pm (16:00h), check-out is before 11am (11:00h) . If you want to check in/out earlier/later please inquire when placing your reservation or ASAP. There may be an additional charge for early/late check-in/check-out.

* PARKING ~ Free on site (6 – 9 vehicles depending on size, i.e. truck vs. compact car). Additional overnight street parking is allowed from April 1st to October 31st. NOTE: Please only park on the house's gravel parking lot. The paved parking lot belongs to the apartment building and you might get ticketed/towed if you choose to park there!

* CHILDREN ~ Children of all ages are welcome. We have some basics, incl. pack-n-play. Be mindful that the house is not "child-proofed" and there are items (games, books, etc.) within reach. Prior to checkout please put everything back as found. We have some plastic dinnerware and plastic glasses. Please let us know what needs you have and we will try our best to accommodate.

Q: How far is the beach away from your Airbnb?
A: The best beach in town - Canatara Park and Beach - is 4 km away (7 minutes by car). Everything at Canatara Park and Beach is public and free to use, incl. parking. Super nice sandy beach and the refreshing blue waters of Lake Huron are inviting you to spend the day here. Food truck at the West end of the paved parking (Mad Taco). We recommend to bring your own beach gear (beach towel/blanket, umbrella, games, etc).

Q: How far is Downtown Sarnia away from your Airbnb?
A: The listing is right at the edge of Downtown Sarnia, meaning a short walk (750 metres, 10 minute walk) where the downtown core with all restaurants and entertainment is located.

Q: Is your Airbnb in a noisy location?
A: No, not really. The house is located at the edge of Downtown Sarnia in a quiet residential neighbourhood. To the South side of the building is main road (London Road), however the house is constructed in a way (thick plaster walls and insulation) so that almost no noise enters the house. Also, Sarnia is a small city which means that in the late evening (after 10pm) and at night the traffic almost completely dies off and you won't be disturbed by traffic noises.

Q: Do I need to worry about running out of propane for the BBQ?
A: No worries at all! The BBQ is connected to the house's natural gas line so no need to change propane tanks.

Q: Are there bathrooms on the main floor?
A: No, all bathrooms are located on the second floor.

Q: I'm an out-of-town worker for the plants. Do you offer long-term stays?
A: Yes, we do offer medium and long-term stays. The house is very conveniently located to get to and from the plants (near Vidal and Brock St.). Please contact us for specials rates.

Q: I want to book this house for my employees, however I heard third-party bookings are not allowed. How can I still do this?
A: We are enrolled in the Airbnb For Work program. Please set up your profile accordingly and then you are able to book our place for your employees.

Q: How large is this homestead?
A: Guests have access to about 1,800 sq ft of the house. Room heights are between 9 and 8 feet. Very generous large rooms throughout the house. Portion of the basement and the whole attic is used as storage and is off-limits for guests.

Q: What's your Walk Score®?
A: Our house is located at the edge of downtown, and therefore we have an excellent Walk Score® of 70 which means "Very Walkable" & "Most errands can be accomplished on foot."

Q: I noticed your cleaning fee is $100. Why do you charge so much?
A: Our house is very large (~1,800 sq-ft) with many rooms and a lot of laundry to do. A normal cleaning takes about 6 hours for one cleaner. We also believe to pay our employees a fair wage above and beyond the minimum wage. This is one of the ways we give back to our community we live in.

Q: I booked for 5 guests, but by surprise 13 more friends showed up and had no place to stay for the night. What should I do?
A: Please contact the hosts Robert and Ellan immediately. We do not allow any non-registered guest in our Airbnb for what-ever reason.

Q: Is winter maintenance provided?
A: Yes, for snowfall exceeding two (2) inches a professional snow clearing company does the snow removal on Airbnb property. The public roadways (i.e. streets/alleys) are cleared by the City of Sarnia. At the main entrance we also provide a snow shovel and melting salt for in between snow clearing by guests.

Q: How good is your internet?
A: We have reliable WiFi throughout the house and front porch and side yard. Upload speed is 40 MBit/s and download speed is 10 Mbit/s. WiFi password is posted on the information sheets throughout the house (hint: use QR code for access)

Q: What kind of taxes do you charge? Are there any exemptions?
A: We are obligated to charge the following taxes: 13% HST on stays 28 days and less PLUS 4% MAT (Sarnia) on stays 30 days and less.

Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: We do believe that our prices are fair for what we offer. Therefore we do not offer additional discounts. We do have discounts for long-term stays: Please keep in mind if you stay at least 31 days you will also save both taxes: 13% HST and 4% MAT!

Q: Do you charge for extra guests?
A: The price you see is up to 4 guests, for more than 4 guests (i.e. starting at the 5th guest), we charge +$30/guest/night. For example: 10 guests for 2 nights it would be a surcharge of $360 plus applicable taxes.

Guests have access to all 4 guest rooms (incl sun room), both bathrooms & powder-room, kitchen, dining room, basement laundry (please ask first), front porch and sunken patio, front lawn, and parking.

The owners Robert & Ellan live around the corner and try to be available to greet you. You will be notified if they need access to the house during your stay for any reason. For example, in the summer they may need to tend to the yard and access the basement and outdoor area.

*PLEASE NOTE*: Garbage collection day is Monday, hence access to the house is needed to set garbage and recycling out on Sunday or early Monday. Housekeeping will arrive at 11am check-out time unless other arrangements are made at the time of booking or with enough advance notice. Robert & Ellan may arrive slightly ahead of housekeeping to oversee trainees, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: A part of the basement is used as storage and access is required occasionally via separate basement entrance. All this should not interfere with your traveling experience at all.

PLEASE NOTE: There are house plants throughout the house which need to be watered once a week. Robert & Ellan will come in and water the plants (most likely combined with on a garbage collection day)

Parking on gravel parking in front of the house (fits 6-9 vehicles) and free street parking (overnight street parking ONLY from April 1st until Oct 31st). Sarnia VIA RAIL train-station is 3.3 km (6 mins by car) away. Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport is 9.5km (10 mins by car) away.
